Dear Professor Morris,

I hope all is well and the COVID-19 is not affecting you or your family and friends.

My name is Jing Li, and I took your class of New Venture Management in Winter Quarter of 2017 when I was pursuing my Master's Degree in Biotechnology Management at UCI. I was involved in the research project regarding the marketing innovation and new product development of  MagTek.

While I was in your class, I became fascinated with the process of new product innovation, from the product design, creation of new concept, market research, brain storm, trouble shooting and solution. From designing the new product portfolio, I learned a lot from the process. The essential thing I took away from this class is not only the process or the product itself, but also the methodologies of doing new product development. At the same time, I learned how important it is to work as a team. Without them, it was hard for us to come up such innovated idea of new product which potentially can help MegTek to boost their sales in this new era.

With your encouragement, I started my own company after I graduated from UCI. I utilized the method I learned from the in-class project into a real-world business project. Research, brain storm, design, test, trouble shooting, then polish the process and methods, test again till it become successful. Even though I am still far away from the normal standards success in business, I believe every small step I make contributes to the bigger picture.

Best,

Jing Li
